Minutes from the open Nordic VHF-managers meeting in Ånnaboda, May 2005

(Based on the notes from SM2ECL supplemented by SM6NZB and edited by OZ7IS.)

At the podium SM2ECL, OZ7IS and LA1BR no one from OH unfortunately.

Discussing WSJT meteor scatter and rain scatter propagation and technical recommendations.

The meeting decided that a club station can be single operator if only one man is operating the station without help!

Cooperation between the Nordic country’s contest managers with the NAC logs.

Question from Per, SM0DFP about using two or more remote stations and working them selves?
That is not allowed because the information has to be unknown by the receiver! (It takes 2 BRAINS to have a QSO!)

Question from Anders, SM7ECM who has been working PI9A on 2,3 GHz SSB and one minute later PA3CEG.
He is sure its the SAME station and whants to know if both QSO:s are valid, it is not a DUPE !
Answer from Ivan OZ7IS was that the QSO is valid.

Discussion about rules or possibilities to get contests on light coming up on NRAU meeting. Light is light and radio waves is radio waves?

The Quarterly Contest.
We have a problem with low number of participants in the "big" contests and almost none outside SM/OZ in quarterly contests.

I (SM6NZB) think the Quarterly contest should be moved to the same time as the sub regional contests.
That is VHF Phone-only 08-11 UTC first weekend in March, May and Sep.
The October contest should be UHF phone-only 08-11 UTC.
The July contest should be a FD-contest, 24 hours all-band.
To get more participants they should in SM be included in the CLUB competition which then will have 12+4+1= 17 rounds.

Opinion of the meeting was that it should be moved but and still be phone-only and same length and time.
(CW QSO’s could be made and "counted" but should be 0 points)
In OZ the DAVUS quarterly contest usually receives only ONE log according to Sören OZ1FTU.

We all agree with EDR proposal that we have to try to get MW band and other segments from secondary status to primary from our countries PTS.

Tank you very much Ivan for the professional un-prepared review of the NRAU and IARU proposals!
My computer crashed so I had no papers unfortunately!
